Christmas and Woodstock

The last service we had at Woodstock was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed my time out there. The sermon was on Shepherds, Angels & Truth. We had a great time of fellowship and prayer after the service.

Anyway, the next service will be New Year’s Day at 1600! We hope to see you there!

Woodstock State School Fete

Two Friday nights ago, Gary Johnson and I (Andrew Hicks) attended the WSS Fete. It was a really enjoyable time. Gary is from the Salvation Army and kindly brought along the SA Mobile Cafe. We served tea and coffee for most of the evening.

It was stunning to see the respect that is shown to the Salvation Army. I was saddened to think that churches do not generally have that type of community support or respect.

Thanks again Mr. Johnson.

The Essential Resurrection

Easter Sunday Sermon @ All-Nations Family Fellowship
Speaker: Andrew Hicks

If the Resurrection of Jesus did NOT occur then being a Christian is a waste of time

1 Corinthians 15:12-17

12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. 15 We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. The King is Coming!

Palm Sunday Sermon by Andrew Hicks @ All-Nations Family Fellowship

John 12:9-19

When the large crowd of the Jews learned that Jesus was there, they came, not only on account of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests made plans to put Lazarus to death as well, 11 because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus.

12 The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” 14 And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,

15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion;
behold, your king is coming,
sitting on a donkey’s colt!”

16 His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him. 17 The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. 18 The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him.” (ESV)
